Cookie policy

Information on the use of cookies and similar technologies on everytrophy.com, in accordance with article 22.2 of Spanish Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE) and the guidelines of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).

EveryTrophy uses two Google services: Analytics, to measure the audience, and AdSense, to show ads. There are no affiliate links and no social media buttons. If you visit the site from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, neither installs cookies until you accept: the first time you will see Google's consent notice, where you can accept, decline or choose by purpose. From outside that region they are on by default, with no notice, and you can turn them off as section 5 explains.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser when you visit it. It is used to remember information between pages or between visits: from your language preference to tracking your browsing behaviour for statistical or advertising purposes.

2. Cookies this site uses

Analytics and advertising. everytrophy.com uses Google Analytics 4 to see which guides get read and from which countries, so as to decide what to write next. The controller of these cookies is Google Ireland Limited. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, until you give your consent in Google's notice, the browser keeps them blocked in advance: Analytics cannot write them. Outside that region they are installed when the page loads. They are:

_ga — Google Ireland Limited. Distinguishes unique visitors. Declared lifetime: 2 years, though browsers shorten it on their own.
_ga_XG27W22S99 — Google Ireland Limited. Keeps session state as you move from page to page. Declared lifetime: 2 years.
And the advertising ones in the next section. There are no first-party, social media, affiliate or session cookies.

Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)

The ads are served by Google AdSense. Google and the vendors in its ad network may install cookies to choose which ad to show, avoid repeating the same one, measure results and prevent fraud and, if you allow it, to personalise ads based on your browsing on this and other sites. The main ones, according to Google's documentation:

IDE — Google. Used to show Google ads on non-Google sites and, if you have personalised ads turned on, to personalise them. Duration: 13 months in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland; 24 months elsewhere.
id — Google. If you have turned off personalised ads, it remembers that preference. Same duration as IDE.
_gads — Google, on our domain. Enables the site to show Google ads. Duration: 13 months.
DSID — Google. Identifies someone signed in to Google so that their ad settings are respected. Duration: 2 weeks.

Third-party vendors in Google's network may install their own cookies, with their own names and durations. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent notice shows the full list of vendors and lets you accept or decline them one by one.

3. What third-party requests there are

Besides Google Analytics, your browser contacts Google AdSense servers to load the ads and, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the consent notice. Those requests let Google see your IP address and the page you are visiting, even if you decline cookies. Fonts, game images, icons and the rest of the code are served from our own domain.

The one obvious exception is when you click an external link: from that moment you are on the destination site and its own cookie policy applies, over which we have no control.

4. Technical browser storage

The site stores nothing of its own in your browser: no first-party cookies and no data in localStorage. What is stored is your cookie decision in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland: Google's consent notice stores it, so it applies on every page and you are not asked again, and you can change it from "Cookie preferences" in the footer. Google's services may also store technical data in local storage, for the same purposes as their cookies.

5. How to manage cookies in your browser

Beyond this site's own notice, you can review and delete the cookies from everytrophy.com — and from any other site — through your browser at any time:

Google Chrome: Settings › Privacy and security › Cookies and other site data.
Mozilla Firefox: Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data.
Safari: Preferences › Privacy › Manage Website Data.
Microsoft Edge: Settings › Cookies and site permissions.

Bear in mind that blocking all cookies may stop other websites that do rely on them from working properly.

For advertising, you can also turn off personalised ads in Google's My Ad Center and ad settings for partner sites, and those of other vendors at aboutads.info or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu. Google Analytics measurement can be turned off on any site with its opt-out browser add-on.

6. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the rules or new features on the site. The last updated date appears at the foot of the page.
