Where Players Quit Death Stranding 2
44.5% finish the story and 6.1% take the platinum. We analysed all 55 trophies across 68,485 players to explain why the platinum comes down to four volume trophies, all under 9%.
The sample
PSNProfiles (PS5) · snapshot from 25/09/2026
The platinum is four trophies under 9%, and the biggest drop, 7.1 points, sits just before them
The biggest drop between two consecutive trophies on the curve is 7.1 points: from the 15.8% of The Real Story of the Ghost Hunter to the 8.7% of Savior of Terminal Fort Knot. Below that step only four trophies remain, and all four are about volume, not skill.
They are saving Terminal Fort Knot (8.7%), whose order only appears once the other 41 facilities are connected; Master Builder (7.5%), all 18 structures; Seasoned Porter (7.3%), 30 S ranks; and Connecting Hearts and Minds (6.6%), all 42 facilities at level 5.
And from 6.6% to the platinum's 6.1% there is half a point. Whoever finishes the facilities has already done everything else: facility connection is, in practice, the platinum.
Death Stranding 2's curve does not break at a boss: the four rarest trophies are earned by repeating orders, building and connecting.
Finishing the story is not even half: 44.5% against 6.1%
Death Can't Tear Us Apart, the end of Episode 16, is held by 44.5%. The platinum, by 6.1%. That is 38.4 points: of every seven people who finish the story, one takes the platinum.
The story loses people early. From Episode 2 (75.1%) to 3 (66.4%), 8.7 points drop, the biggest step in the whole campaign: it is the landing in Australia, where standard orders, APAS enhancements and the connection system open up. Then three steps of about 4 points in Episodes 6, 7 and 8. And from Episode 9 (47.8%) to the end only 3.3 points are lost: whoever reaches the halfway mark finishes.
What comes after the ending is not another story: it is Episode 17, an unscripted post-game where you raise the facilities. That, not the campaign, is where the platinum is decided.
One-minute trophies under 22%: the rule the description does not state
By group, the highest average is the story (54.9%) and the lowest is the facility secrets (25.3%). In between sit orders (50.0%), building (44.4%), mechanics (42.7%) and connection (37.6%).
The odd figure is in mechanics. It is ten trophies for menus and the private room, almost all one-minute jobs, and five are under 22%: bartering with a porter (16.0%), decorating the room with a screenshot (17.1%), the albino animal (19.9%), the private room performance (21.4%) and stargazing from a hot spring (21.8%). Bartering sits below the optional Tar Lake boss (16.1%).
It is not difficulty: the real condition is not in the description. You have to drop an item for the porter to pick up, and the two private rooms have opposite rules: the screenshot only works in a facility's room and the performance only in the ship's.
All 55 trophies ranked by unlock rate
The full table you can reproduce any calculation on this page from. The «drop» column is the difference in points against the previous trophy that counts towards the platinum: the big steps are where people stop playing. Trophies marked separate are from DLC or from side modes that are not needed for the platinum, so they do not chain a drop — mixing them in would compare steps from different playthroughs.

Where this data comes from
Unlock rate of all 55 trophies on PS5, measured across 68,485 tracked players. Snapshot source: PSNProfiles, consulted on 25 September 2026, fifteen months after launch. All 54 non-platinum trophies count towards the platinum: there is no DLC and no separate mode.
The game has 0 missable trophies — everything remains available in the post-game — and 30 hidden ones: the sixteen episode trophies and fourteen more for connection, Likes, animals and facility secrets.
A caveat about the sample: these are players who use a trophy tracker, a more motivated group than average. The real percentages across the whole PS5 player base are probably lower. The proportions between trophies, which is what we analyse, are not affected.
What this data cannot tell you
First, and this is what gets misread most: the curve sorts trophies by rarity, not by play order. When we say there is a 7.1-point drop between The Real Story of the Ghost Hunter and Savior of Terminal Fort Knot, it means they are two consecutive rungs of that sorted list, not that people literally quit between one and the other.
Second: this is a snapshot of a single day, fifteen months after release. We do not know how fast the platinum got to 6.1%, nor whether it is still climbing. With one cut you cannot separate hard from long: a low trophy can be low because it is demanding or because it is boring, and this data does not distinguish between the two.
And third: the percentages measure behaviour, not difficulty. The facility secrets dropping to a 25.3% average says how many people do them, not how hard they are to do.
