Where Players Quit Octopath Traveler 0
46.73% reach the end of the journey and 35.80% take the platinum, the third most common on the whole site. We analysed all 37 trophies across 2,112 players, and the biggest drop in the game, just 7.53 points, is not in the story: it is in the town of Wishvale.

The wall is in the town, not in the story
The biggest drop in the whole game is 7.53 points, from "Ring of the Thunderblade" (73.11%) to "A Dependable Merchant" (65.58%). And "A Dependable Merchant" is not a boss or a hidden collectible: it is building a shop in Wishvale.
The second biggest does not come from the story either. It is 6.49 points, from "The Tavern and Hub" (88.54%) to "Freshly Grown Vegetables" (82.05%), the building system again.
The two biggest drops in Octopath Traveler 0 are both in the town group. That is where the game stops pulling on its own and starts asking the player to decide to get involved. Whoever gets involved sticks around: the town group averages 71.45% across its ten trophies and its minimum, raising Wishvale to the maximum level, is still at 56.44%.
If you are going for the platinum, building the town is what sets the pace. Do not leave it for the end: it is where most people fall away.
Nobody leaves all at once: it is a slope, not a cliff
From the most common trophy, "First Break" at 99.86%, to the platinum at 35.80%, there is an enormous distance. But the biggest individual drop along that route is 7.53 points, one of the smallest we have measured anywhere on the site.
Look at the next seven drops: 6.49, 5.39, 5.16, 3.60, 3.36, 3.13 and 3.07 points. There is no point where half the roster leaves at once. People trickle away, trophy by trophy, across a JRPG dozens of hours long.
By group, the order is clean and says quite a lot: combat 77.42% average, town 71.45%, rings 66.50%, exploration 52.34%, party 51.88%, story 51.69% and collectibles 40.17%. What gets done by playing gets completed; what demands sweeping the map again does not.
One nuance that breaks that reading: combat is the group with the highest average and at the same time it contains the rarest trophy in the game after the platinum, at 36.55%. A group average hides as much as it shows.
Whoever finishes the game almost always platinums
The only slide that really is a story one comes at the end: 5.16 points from "The Door to Hell" (51.89%) to "Champion of the Continent" (46.73%), the trophy for closing out the journey. Almost half of everyone who starts Octopath Traveler 0 finishes it.
And there is the figure that explains the platinum. 35.80% have everything, against a 46.73% who reach the end: more than three out of four people who finish the game end up platinuming it.
What sits above the platinum is the collectibles, and they do not even weigh much. The last drop on the list is 3.07 points, from 41.00% to 37.93%: the collectibles group closes with an average of 40.17% and a minimum of 37.93%. They are glued to the platinum, not far from it.
There is not a single missable or hidden trophy among the 37, and all 37 count towards the platinum. Nothing here is lost through carelessness: it is lost by giving up.

The full table you can reproduce any calculation on this page from. The «drop» column is the difference in points against the previous trophy that counts towards the platinum: the big steps are where people stop playing. Trophies marked separate are from DLC or from side modes that are not needed for the platinum, so they do not chain a drop — mixing them in would compare steps from different playthroughs.

Where these numbers come from
Unlock rate for the 37 trophies on PS5, measured across 2,112 tracked players. Snapshot source: Exophase, consulted on 21 August 2026. All 37 count towards the platinum, 0 are missable and 0 are hidden.
The "drops" are the difference in percentage points between one trophy and the next once they are sorted from most common to rarest. We only compare trophies that count towards the platinum.
One warning about the sample: these are players who use a trophy tracker, more motivated than average. The real percentages across all of PS5 are probably lower.
2,112 players: the smallest sample on the whole site
This has to be said before anything else. 2,112 players is the smallest sample of every game we cover, and that changes what can and cannot be claimed.
The maths is simple: a single player moves about 0.05 percentage points (1 in 2,112). Twenty players move a whole point. At that granularity, any fine difference between two trophies is noise, not signal: if two trophies are half a point apart, we have not measured anything, we have measured ten people.
That is why in this study we only draw conclusions from the big differences: the 7.53 points in the town, the 6.49 of the next step, the 5.16 at the end of the story. Those gaps really are hundreds of players and they stand up. The exact order between trophies one or two points apart does not: it can flip with the next snapshot without anything real having changed.
The sample is still small because the game is recent. As it grows these figures will move, and the ones that will move most are precisely those in the tail: platinum and collectibles.
Treat this study's percentages as orders of magnitude, not as precise decimals. With 2,112 players, the second decimal place means nothing.
