Where Players Quit Ghost of Yōtei
66.45% finish the story and 42.40% take the platinum, the most common of every platinum we have measured. We analysed all 62 trophies across 58,823 players to explain why this curve has almost no steps in it.
The sample
Exophase (PS5) · snapshot from 21/08/2026
The flattest curve we have measured: the only step is in the prologue
The biggest drop between two trophies that count towards the platinum is 10.09 points, and it happens right at the start: from the 99.90% of "The Snake", which pops in the prologue, to the 89.81% of "Two as One".
That step is the entry toll of any game: people who start a playthrough, play half an hour and drop it. What stands out is what comes next: the second biggest step in the whole curve is 3.68 points, from 65.58% to 61.90%. And the third is 3.63 points. After the prologue, there is not a single point where the curve falls more than four points at once.
That is a curve without walls. There is no specific trophy that splits the community in two: there is a steady trickle of people getting tired. And it fits the game itself: 0 missable trophies, difficulty affects none of them, and one playthrough is enough.
A game with walls loses its players all at once at one trophy. Ghost of Yōtei loses them little by little, spread across the whole map of Ezo.
Two out of three finish the story, and almost everyone who does gets the platinum
The story group is the most completed in the game: nine trophies averaging 75.56% with a minimum of 66.45%, which is the final trophy itself. Within the campaign the biggest drop is 3.38 points, from 81.56% to 78.18% at "The Oni". The main story does not push anyone out.
Of the 66.45% who finish it, 42.40% end up with the platinum: nearly two out of three. It is the best conversion we have seen in an open world.
And one detail confirms it: in the base game there is not a single trophy below the platinum. The rarest of the ones that count is the minimum of the exploration group, at 43.56%, barely a point above the platinum's 42.40%. In other words: almost nobody stops at 52 of 53. Whoever reaches the last collectible closes it out.
The attrition is in the map, not in the combat
Comparing the five groups that count towards the platinum, the difference is clear. Story averages 75.56%, gear 70.61%, combat 70.42% and tales 67.70%. Exploration falls behind: 16 trophies averaging 58.48% with a minimum of 43.56%, the lowest in the base game.
That is where the drops in the second half of the curve are, and they are still small: 2.78 points from 48.86% to 46.08%, and 2.43 points from 53.30% to 50.87%. It is not that people get stuck on one collectible; it is that the exploration group is the largest of the five and each collection takes a handful of players with it.
If you are planning the platinum, the practical conclusion is the opposite of almost any other game: there is no trophy to fear. You just have to outlast the map.
Careful when reading the full list: there are 8 trophies that do not count towards the platinum, ranging from the 8.72% of "Rare and Exceptional" to the 2.71% of "No More Lessons". They show up far below the platinum because they are New Game+ and Legends, optional content. They are not a wall beyond the platinum: they are a different game.
All 62 trophies ranked by unlock rate
The full table you can reproduce any calculation on this page from. The «drop» column is the difference in points against the previous trophy that counts towards the platinum: the big steps are where people stop playing. Trophies marked separate are from DLC or from side modes that are not needed for the platinum, so they do not chain a drop — mixing them in would compare steps from different playthroughs.

Where this data comes from
Unlock rate of all 62 trophies on PS5, measured across 58,823 tracked players. Snapshot source: Exophase, consulted on 21 August 2026. Of those 62, 54 count towards the platinum (the 53 required ones plus the platinum itself) and 8 are left out. Every drop we quote is calculated only between the ones that count: mixing in the DLC trophies would invent a collapse that does not exist.
The game has 0 missable trophies and 27 hidden ones, so no low percentage is explained by having lost the chance to earn it.
A caveat about the sample: these are players who use a trophy tracker, a more motivated group than average. The real percentages across the whole PS5 player base are probably lower. The proportions between trophies, which is what we analyse, are not affected.
What this data cannot tell you
First, and this is what gets misread most: the curve sorts trophies by rarity, not by play order. When we say there is a 10.09-point drop between "The Snake" and "Two as One", it means they are two consecutive rungs of that sorted list, not that people literally quit between one and the other.
Second: this is a snapshot of a single day, less than a year after release. We do not know how fast the platinum got to 42.40%, nor whether it is still climbing. With one cut you cannot separate hard from long: a low trophy can be low because it is demanding or because it is boring, and this data does not distinguish between the two.
And third: the percentages measure behaviour, not difficulty. Exploration dropping to a 58.48% average says how many people do it, not how hard it is to do.
