Where Players Quit Ninja Gaiden 4

The platinum is held by 14.46% and the most common trophy by 100%, but between the two there is no cliff: the biggest drop on the whole list is 9.45 points. And it does not land in the story, but between two technique trophies, measured across 6,114 players.

This game's wall is not in the story

In almost every game we analyse, the biggest drop on the curve happens between two campaign trophies: someone stops advancing and never comes back. Ninja Gaiden 4 is one of the few where that does not happen.

The biggest drop on the whole list is 9.45 points, running from "Bloodraven Form", held by 100% of players, to "Raven Gear: Caddis Wire", held by 90.55%. Both are technique trophies: taking on a form and using a piece of Raven gear. Neither asks you to advance a single metre of story.

For comparison, the biggest drop on the list that lands on a story trophy is 4.02 points, from 68.53% to 64.51%. Less than half. In the game with the toughest reputation we have covered, progressing through the campaign throws nobody out all at once.

There is no cliff: there is a very long slope

The 44 trophies that count towards the platinum run from 100% to 14.92%, and the biggest step along that route is those 9.45 points. In other words: nothing breaks at one specific point, people fall away at all of them.

The group averages draw the whole slope. Techniques sit at 68.89% average, missions at 54.85%, story at 53.10%, chapters at 31.43%, mastery at 28.65%, collection at 18.96% and difficulty at 16.68%. Each block asks a little more than the last and each block takes its share.

The detail that seals the idea: the difficulty group, just two trophies, has a minimum of 15.64% against the platinum's 14.46%. Whoever beats the highest difficulty almost never puts the game down afterwards. And it helps that there are 0 missable and 0 hidden trophies here: you do not lose the platinum through carelessness.

Fact

In practical terms: in Ninja Gaiden 4 the order you do things in barely matters. What decides it is how long you last.

What really sifts people out is mastering the weapons

Sort the eight biggest drops in the game and three of them are pure mastery of mechanics, and not one of those asks you to advance the story.

Mastery holds two of them: 5.65 points from "Master of Yatousen" (31.39%) to "Master of Magatsuhi" (25.74%), and 5.16 points from "Combo Master" (55.63%) to "Master of Takeminakata" (50.47%). And techniques holds another of 5.25 points, from "Master of the Drill" (38.71%) to "Master of the Hammer" (33.46%).

The mastery group as a whole sits at an average of 28.65% with a minimum of 19.58%, and collection falls to an average of 18.96% and a minimum of 14.92%. That 14.92% is the last door before the 14.46% platinum: practically everyone who walks through it platinums.

It is an unusual profile. Ninja Gaiden 4 has a reputation for brutality, but the brutality is not in reaching the end, it is in learning the entire combat system.

All 53 trophies ranked by unlock rate

The full table you can reproduce any calculation on this page from. The «drop» column is the difference in points against the previous trophy that counts towards the platinum: the big steps are where people stop playing. Trophies marked separate are from DLC or from side modes that are not needed for the platinum, so they do not chain a drop — mixing them in would compare steps from different playthroughs.

Where these numbers come from, and why they need handling with care

Unlock rate for the 53 trophies on PS5: 44 count towards the platinum and 8 fall outside, all from the expansion, with percentages running from 16.54% to 3.37%. Those eight do not enter the drop calculation. Snapshot source: Exophase, consulted on 21 August 2026.

And here comes the important warning: the sample is 6,114 players, one of the smallest we handle on the site. Other games we have analysed are measured across tens of thousands. With 6,114 people, a difference of a few tenths between two trophies means nothing: only the big jumps carry any value, like the 9.45 points of the biggest drop, and whole-group trends.

Being a recent game, that sample is also skewed towards deeply invested people: they are players who use a trophy tracker. The real percentages across all of PS5 will be lower. The proportions between trophies, which is what we analyse, hold up better.

What this snapshot still cannot tell you

It is a snapshot of a single moment. With a small sample and a young game, today's curve is not the one six months from now: the 14.46% platinum could climb quite a bit as people finish their three playthroughs.

From today we store a weekly snapshot of all 53 trophies. With that we will be able to separate the hard from the merely long, which in this game is exactly the interesting question. That history cannot be recovered after the fact: if you do not start storing it, it does not exist.
