Ninja Gaiden 4 has 45 trophies in the base game plus 8 from The Two Masters expansion, which do not count towards the platinum. It is by far the hardest platinum we have covered: we score it 8.5 out of 10 and it runs 60 to 80 hours across three playthroughs.

But it has one quirk that makes it fairer than it looks: there is not a single missable trophy. Chapter select lets you go back to any point in the game, so here you do not lose the platinum to a slip-up, you lose it by not beating Master Ninja.

Is the Ninja Gaiden 4 platinum hard?

Yes. We score it 8.5 out of 10 and it is the most demanding of every game we have covered. Two trophies carry that difficulty: Way of the Master Ninja, which asks you to finish the game on the highest difficulty, and Challenger of Challenges, which asks you to complete every combat challenge.

That said, it is hard in a fair way: there is no missable trophy. You are not going to lose the platinum to a slip-up, only to not being good enough.

Does Ninja Gaiden 4 have missable trophies?

None. The game includes a chapter select that lets you return to any point of the campaign once you have cleared it, so anything you skip can be picked up later.

That is what explains why a platinum this hard is held by 14.46% of players, more than games that are far easier but full of missables.

How many playthroughs do you need?

Three. The first for the story and the collectibles, on whichever difficulty you like. The second with chapter select, to clean up challenges, Missions and Weapon Skills. And the third one entirely on Master Ninja.

Difficulty cannot be changed mid-playthrough, so the Master Ninja run has to be done in full and on its own.

Do the expansion trophies count towards the platinum?

No. True Ninja is earned with the 44 base-game trophies. The 8 from The Two Masters sit completely apart.

And it is worth knowing before you dive in, because the expansion is a good deal harder than the original game: the two rarest trophies in all of Ninja Gaiden 4 are there, at 3.37% and 5.77% against the 14.46% of the platinum itself.

Why has the chapter trophy not popped if I did it perfectly?

Almost certainly because of Auto Movement. The four chapter challenges — 02, 06, 10 and 12 — require it to be turned off, and the game never warns you on screen.

If you leave it on, you can clear the chapter without a single mistake and the trophy will not pop. It is the most common mistake on this list.
