The wall of the platinum

Way of the Master Ninja asks you to complete the entire game on Master Ninja, the highest difficulty. It is one of the three gold trophies and, along with the challenges, what turns this platinum into an 8.5 out of 10.

And one design detail makes it worse: difficulty cannot be changed mid-playthrough. Starting on Ninja and bumping it up at the end does not work. It is a full dedicated run, 20 to 25 hours.

What the numbers say

Here is the figure that describes Ninja Gaiden 4 best. Way of the Master Ninja is held by 15.64% of players. The platinum is held by 14.46%.

One point apart. Practically everyone who beats Master Ninja ends up platinuming, because by the time you get there you have already done everything else.

That makes planning very simple: this platinum comes down to a single question, and it is whether you can finish the game on the highest difficulty. Everything else is a matter of hours.

Key

Save it for last. Turning up with your weapons fully upgraded and every skill learned changes the run completely.

The three playthroughs

The DLC first boss's 16.54% does not measure difficulty: it measures who bought it
The expansion's three story bosses lose half a point between them: whoever starts, finishes. Then the new trials open, and that is where the percentages drop below ten per cent.
