Eight trophies, one for the end of each chapter, all hidden and none missable. From chapter 4 the story requires Hunter Rank: 20, 33 and 40.

From the 91.3% of Windward Lands to the 59.7% of One Corner of the World. The credits of Bringer of Harmony (70.6%) are not the end: three chapters remain.

It pops at the end of the prologue: you rescue the girl, defeat the Chatacabra and talk to the people at the Windward Plains base camp. It is the starting point for everything; what pays off from here is using the Binoculars on every large monster you see, because A Keen-eyed Observation is available in chapter 1 and most people let it slip.

It requires Hunter Rank 33 and is the longest mission in the story: you have to hunt the High Rank version of the four apex predators — Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra and Jin Dahaad — and then, with Fabius, a Gore Magala and a Blangonga. A Field Survey is the hunt that opens in the open world: select a large monster on the map and choose to start it, or simply attack it until it starts by itself. Slaying or capturing makes no difference.

There are more than 30, so you can pick, but they unlock through story progress, Hunter Rank or by finishing the previous one in the same chain. The troublesome ones ask you to catch endemic life or fish: Kanya's (fish), Dareel's and Samin's (endemic life with the Capture Net) and the Palico's.

Careful: the fish in Kanya's missions must be landed with the Fishing Rod, not the net. The mission Samin's Special Research Report asks for the Sandstar, which is also I Caught a Shooting Star!.

Tempered monsters appear after Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns, at the end of chapter 4. On the map they have a purple outline and the trail leading you to them is a different colour. They are tougher, but carry old scars that open into blue wounds when struck: break them with a Focus Strike and the monster goes down.

There is no need to seek them out separately: they are the best source of rank, zenny and Artian materials, and have a higher chance of a gold crown, so they pile up on their own while you do everything else.

When the monster's icon shows a skull on the minimap, it is ready. Set a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap, wait for it to fall in and throw two Tranq Bombs at its face, in that order or the reverse, but back to back. They are crafted in the tent: Pitfall Trap from Trap Tool and Net; Shock Trap from Trap Tool and Thunderbug Capacitor; the bomb from Sleep Herb and Parashroom. Trap Tools are bought at camp.

Immunities: Rey Dau and Gypceros ignore the Shock Trap, and Jin Dahaad ignores the Pitfall Trap. Capture whenever you can: it also counts for Monster Slayer and ends the hunt faster than slaying.

There are four, one per region: Rey Dau (Windward Plains), Uth Duna (Scarlet Forest), Nu Udra (Oilwell Basin) and Jin Dahaad (Iceshard Cliffs). Tempered or not, slain or captured, it makes no difference: it is 50 in total, not 50 of each.

The trick: rest at the grill or in the tent and set Inclemency; during that phase the region's apex predator is guaranteed to appear. Repeating a Low Rank optional quest against one of them is the fastest route. And do it on the tempered version if you also want Rarity 8 Artian materials.

Monster Hunter Wilds trophy guide — Hunting Log crowns

7 trophies

Seven crown trophies, and this is where the platinum lives. The first two come almost on their own; the two Master trophies ask for 52 crowns from 26 launch monsters.

It can be done in chapter 1: in the mission A Hunter's Pride, the alpha Doshaguma leading the pack always has a gold crown. Take out the Binoculars, get within about 50 metres and watch it until the game recognises it: the crown appears under its name and the trophy pops without a fight.

Only the large gold crown counts; a miniature crown does not trigger it. If you missed it, any gold crown you find later works.

A miniature crown is a monster much smaller than its species' average. Apart from story exceptions, crowns are hunted in High Rank, and only in Field Surveys and Investigations: monsters in story missions have a fixed size.

Do not measure by eye: the Binoculars show the crown under the monster's name at about 50 metres. When you see one, save it as an Investigation before hunting it: you get more attempts at the same size and can share it.

The method is the one for every crown: rest at the grill or in the tent to change the time and weather and reshuffle the monsters in every region, and check each one with the Binoculars. Apex predators always appear during Inclemency, so they can be forced.

Start with each region's common monsters, which show up more often and give more size rolls per hour.

Miniature Crown Master trophy icon

Many means the 26 launch monsters without a fixed size. Jin Dahaad, Guardian Arkveld and Zoh Shia, which are always the same size, do not count, and neither do monsters added by updates after 28 February 2025.

What cuts the work: saving Investigations (you can hold 50 and each replays at the same size) and trading crowns: if another player invites you to their crown Investigation, you get the crown too. Without help, the trick is to save about 30 seconds before a monster spawns, offline, and reload until it appears with a crown.

A silver crown does not count: only gold works here, the one for monsters much larger than average. Tempered monsters are more likely to carry a gold crown, so the tempered hunts for Seasoned Hunter are the best place to look for them.

The story Doshaguma already counts as one. For the rest, rest to reshuffle the monsters, check with the Binoculars and save each crown as an Investigation.

The gap between the crowns and the platinum is eight tenths: almost everyone who closes the crowns closes the game. That is why they should be the main goal from the moment you finish the story, not the last thing left.

Rank goes up by defeating large monsters and completing quests, but the story holds it back: until the end there are caps, the last one at 40. After the ending it climbs freely, with a few check quests along the way: the game stops giving experience until you complete a specific hunt offered by Alma.

There is no need to farm it separately: between the 50 tempered monsters, the 50 apex predators, the 50 captures and the crowns you pass 100 comfortably. If you fall short, hunt tempered monsters, which give the most.

What counts is the money you carry at a given moment, not the total earned: spending at the forge delays the trophy. In the late game High Rank hunts pay a lot, and selling items from the camp tent speeds up the final push.

If it is not getting there, stop forging for a few tempered hunts and sell surplus duplicate materials.

Get close to a monster that has not spotted you, from behind, crouched and with your weapon sheathed: with the weapon drawn the prompt does not appear. At close range the Sneak Attack button shows up.

The best moment is the start of a Field Survey, before the fight begins: a sleeping or feeding monster is the ideal target.

The description is misleading: it says attacks in Focus Mode, but hitting normally with Focus Mode active does not count. You need the Focus Strike, the special attack launched from that mode, and it has to hit a wound (shown in red when the mode is active) or a weak point.

Wounds open by hitting the same area several times. On tempered monsters, old scars open into blue wounds that also count. It comes on its own over a few hunts if you use a Focus Strike every time you see a wound.

While you explore, a companion remarks when a spot is good for camping. That is where you use the Camping Kit, or ask the Palico at base camp to set it up. There are far more than 10 possible spots, but the number of active camps per region is limited and grows with the story.

When you set it up the game shows the spot's risk: in dangerous ones a large monster can destroy the camp. For the trophy it counts the same, but for fast travel pick the safe ones.

It unlocks in chapter 1. Talk to the support Palico at a camp, open Pop-up Camp editing, pick one and change anything, even just a colour. The trophy pops when you save the changes, not when you open the menu.

It is one of the easiest trophies in the game and still only half of players have it: it is a menu nobody needs to open to play.

It unlocks after the mission A Hunter's Pride, in chapter 1. Enter the camp tent, open the appearance menu and Seikret customisation, change any colour and save. The trophy pops when you exit with the save.

Do it the first time you enter the tent after that chapter and forget about it.

Monster Hunter Wilds trophy guide — Multiplayer

5 trophies

Five social trophies, four of them online. The two 100-quest ones are done together by playing as a pair; the two menu ones take ten minutes.

From the 70.8% of Hunters United to the 10.6% of Gossip Hunter, which only asks you to view 30 profiles.

Your Palico comes along by default solo or with just one other player. If a third hunter joins, it goes back to camp and that quest does not count. And watch out for the SOS Flare: the Support Hunters it calls take the Palico's place.

The move that saves hours: play as a pair and cap the number of hunters at two in the quest settings. That way every hunt counts at once for this trophy and for the 100 quests of Hunters United Forever.

Any quest counts as long as another real player is there when it is completed; they do not need to have been there from the start. You can join through lobby member quests, a Link Party or by answering an SOS Flare.

The Support Hunters the flare calls are in-game characters and do not count.

Same rule as Hunters United: every quest you finish with another real player in the session counts. A hundred is a lot, so do not leave them for the end: start during the story and play as a pair with a friend, or answer other people's SOS Flares, which tend to be short hunts.

With a single partner and the hunter cap at two, the Palico stays and every quest also counts for Someone Worth Following. With three or four players, only this one moves.

It is done from the pause menu: under communication, open the member list, lobby tab, pick a player and view their Hunter Profile. A full lobby has plenty of people: go one by one up to 30. If there are few, go back to the title screen and join another lobby.

It is one of the rarest in the game with no difficulty at all: the 10.6% only means almost nobody opens that menu. Do it in ten minutes the first time you play online.

In the member list of the communication menu, pick a player from the lobby or your session and select follow. They are added to your following tab and the trophy pops straight away.

Do it together with Gossip Hunter: same menu, same player. The 31.1% is explained the same way as that one's 10.6%: there is no challenge, just a menu you never open while playing.

There are no missables and no difficulty settings, and one playthrough is enough plus the work afterwards. The wall is the crowns: Giant Crown Master (6.5%) and Miniature Crown Master (6.1%) ask for the gold crown and the miniature crown of the 26 launch monsters whose size is not fixed. The second wall is fishing: A-fish-ionado, 30 whoppers, sits at 7.7%.

Four trophies need a connection and playing with other people, including 100 quests in multiplayer. Budget between 75 and 120 hours, depending on how much other players help you with crowns.
