Nothing depends on luck: augments have fixed rooms and Halcyon is in surplus if you choose well at the chests

The eight progress trophies across cycles: when the Banyan Tree opens on each of its four occasions, what the seven Nightmare Gates give, how much Halcyon there is per biome and why Second Chance is the first purchase.

The Banyan Tree opens four times and the Nightmare Gates pay well

The Banyan Tree is upstairs in The Passage, where you talk to Sebastian, and only opens at specific moments. The first time, after Bastion: it awards Strange Is The Night (53.1%) and is a short sequence with no combat. The other three: after Legion, after Shepherd and when heading to the Cathedral in the Epilogue quest. All four together are Shattered Glass (29.5%). If you pass through The Passage without going up, the entrance is still there later; but the fourth does not exist until the Epilogue, so this trophy always comes after the credits.

Nightmare Gates spawn every cycle in the first seven biomes, marked with an exclamation mark inside a skull. Some require the Grapple from the Shattered Descent. They are several rooms of enemies with modifiers against you. Clearing all seven at least once is Nightmare Strands (18.9%), a gold.

What makes it worth entering more than once: every gate cleared restores your Second Chance if you had spent it, and gives Integrity Augments, Power Augments and Halcyon. It is also the mechanism behind Fatal Triptych.

Second Chance (66.9%) is bought in the Armor Matrix for 2 Halcyon and is the first purchase worth making: the first death of each cycle revives you on the spot.

70 Halcyon, 20 augments, 10 Alphas and the Yellow Shore

Eclipse's Gift (34.6%): 70 Halcyon, the purple Armor Matrix resource. It has no fixed locations: it comes from red chests, where you can only take one of the two rewards, so always pick Halcyon. It also appears in side areas and at the end of Nightmare Gates. There is far more than 70; the cap per biome is 8, 12, 12, 20, 25, 35 and 50 from the Shattered Rise to the Cathedral.

Never Enough (23.4%): 20 Halcyon in the Yellow Shore alone, the final biome and the only one where it drops from enemies. It accumulates across cycles: a few runs killing everything is enough. It is a hidden trophy.

Reinforced Carapace (30.3%): 20 Integrity Augments, the green-yellow pickups that permanently raise health. They appear in fixed rooms on each biome's main path and in Nightmare Gates: zero luck.

Carcosan Conqueror (38.6%): 10 Alphas, the strong variants with a crown symbol on the map, appearing from the Shattered Descent onwards. Kill them whenever you see them; the same Alphas later serve the last Photo Mode trophy.

The block's order is dictated by the game: Halcyon and augments from the first cycle, the gates once you have the Grapple, and the Yellow Shore at the end. None requires a dedicated run.

Key

At red chests you can only take one of the two rewards: always choose Halcyon. It is the resource that levels the Armor Matrix and counts for two trophies.
