The 4 trophies that come down to luck in Black Flag Resynced

None is hard to execute and all four stall the same way, because they depend on the game spawning the event. One can be forced with a save; the other three cannot.

The problem is not doing them, it is finding them

Black Flag Resynced is a platinum without traps: nothing missable, nothing online, nothing tied to difficulty. But it has four trophies that do not depend on your skill but on the world spawning a specific event, and those are what leave people finishing the game on forty-six out of fifty.

The percentages give it away. Last To Leave sits at just 14.4%, and all it asks is that you sit on a chair. There is no skill in that: it is that the burning ship with a chair barely ever shows up.

The general advice for all four: do them the moment you see them. If you are sailing and one of these events appears, drop whatever you are doing. Seeing it again can cost you hours.

The burning ship: the only one you can force

Last To Leave asks you to sit down on a burning ship. Burning ships are a random open-sea event: you board, loot what chests you can while a timer runs, and the ship explodes.

The problem is twofold. The event is scarce on its own, and on top of that most of those ships have no chair. The odds of both lining up are estimated at around 5%. And if you have just finished a burning-ship event, another one does not show up right away.

But this one can be forced, like so:

1. Push the story until you finish the Príncipe section. 2. Travel to Príncipe, board the ship and save in front of the wheel. 3. Return to the Caribbean through the wheel. 4. Sail west. If there is no storm, the burning ship event will appear. 5. Look through the spyglass: if the ship is two stars, it probably has a chair. 6. If it does not, load the save from step 2 and repeat.

With some persistence it comes in a few attempts. Without the method, you can finish the game without ever seeing it.

Key

When you find the ship with a chair, sit down first, before looting anything. The ship blows up on a timer, and losing the trophy because you were opening chests means restarting the roulette.

The other three, and how to provoke them

These cannot be forced with a save, but you can provoke the situation rather than wait for it.

TrophyHeld byHow to provoke it
Articles Of Agreement67.4%It asks that all the pirates survive a street fight. The fights are random island events and show up with a chain icon on the map. The trick: do it on a small island, where there are fewer pirates to protect and fewer soldiers to kill. Kill the soldiers fast, before any of yours goes down.
Unsinkable19.7%It asks you to survive a rogue wave taken from the side. Rogue waves only appear in storms and are impossible to miss. Here is the counter-intuitive part: when one comes, do not face it head-on, which is what instinct says. Turn sideways and take it. With a reinforced hull you survive comfortably.
Return The Favor41.6%It asks you to ram a Brig that is ramming you. First you need the ram ability, unlocked by the officer The Father on finishing his mission line; it is used with L1 + R1. To provoke it: sit still in front of a Brig until it starts its ram, then ram it head-on.
Key

Return The Favor comes on its own more often than you would think if your wanted level is high: pirate hunters are aggressive and ram of their own accord. And they double up for Hunter Hunted, which asks you to beat one at max wanted level.

The Great Inagua manor: the 111 objects that decide the platinum
Dilettante is held by 3.9% and the platinum by 3.8%: whoever fills the manor, platinums. Here is the breakdown and the save trick that halves the time.
Maxing out the Jackdaw: the eleven forts and the legendary ships
Devil of the Caribbean sits at 8.4% and Ship This at 17.2%. They are the same problem: without a maxed ship there is no fight. The right order, where the money comes from, and why difficulty does not matter.
The Kenway Fleet: board instead of sinking
Every ship you sink is a ship that never joins your fleet. The four classes Collective Madness asks for, how to find a convoy, and why fleet slots depend on Great Inagua.
Underwater: the seven dives, the Black Trench and the 57 locations
The Sequence 6 diving bell opens four trophies at once, and one of them — Cartographer — stays locked forever if you never go down. How to do them in a single pass.
Officers, Templars and smugglers: the side content that unlocks trophies
Two of the five officers hand you abilities other trophies need, and without them the button does nothing. Plus the Templar hunts, the five smuggler dens, and the island where Owned takes ten minutes.
The eight trophies you only miss because you never knew they existed
Blow The Man Down sits at 6.9% and Edward Catway at 8.3%, and neither is hard. Eight trophies that are trivial to execute and whose only barrier is knowing: where they are and why people walk straight past.
The tavern games: the game's hardest trophy is not a fight
Grandmaster sits at 7.5%, below the legendary ships. Draughts, fanorona and nine men's morris against an AI that genuinely wins, and the two-machines-against-each-other method.
Boar, shark and ocelot: the three animal trophies and their coordinates
Double Tap sits at 13.2% and the game's best opportunity passes in the first few minutes, once. The three animal trophies, and the counter-intuitive advice they share: do not kill the second beast.
The seven combat feats: three need gear you have to buy first
Let Me Explain and Gun-kata are not failed through clumsiness: they are failed because the weapon you carry has a cap. The seven on-foot combat trophies, with each one's gear requirement.
The five story trophies: where they land and where people quit
From 95.3% to 27.2% across twelve sequences. None is missable, but one of the five opens Great Inagua and decides when the platinum really begins.
