Clair Obscur’s four missables, and two of them are in the prologue
The platinum fits in one playthrough if none of this slips: the prologue Mime, the camp scene after the first Axon, the Truth answer to Maelle and never killing a Nevron with a quest. What can be missed, when, and what is no longer missable after 1.5.0.
And it counts towards Overcharge, Time to Spill Some Ink, Lumière, Connoisseur, Curious, Maelle, Aiding the Enemy, Follow The Trail, required for the platinum.
The four missables, in the order they appear
Clair Obscur has no difficulty or online trophies, and the whole map stays open after the ending. What can be missed is four specific decisions, and two of them come in the first hour of play. There is no manual save: the game rotates several autosaves, and reloading an earlier one is the safety net if you get it wrong.
| Trophy | When it is lost | How to avoid it |
|---|---|---|
| A Peculiar Encounter (42.1%) | When you head to the harbour in the prologue | Beat the Mime by the main street stage |
| Connoisseur (11.5%) | Only if both missable records are missed | The prologue Mime and the camp scene after the first Axon |
| Maelle (33.7%) | By answering with the lie at level 6 to 7 | Pick the Truth answer |
| Aiding the Enemy (15.2%) | By killing a Nevron before finishing its quest | Do not attack any white Nevron until its quest is closed |
The prologue: the Mime, the key and three trophies in one fight
The first part of the prologue is a walk through Lumière. Before heading down to the harbour — the game asks for confirmation — at the far end of the main street, to the right of the stage with dancers, there is a Mime. It is the only Mime that counts for A Peculiar Encounter (42.1%), and it also gives a record.
That fight is the best spot for two other trophies. The Mime hides behind a wall that only falls to a Break: charge Gustave’s Overcharge to 10 and fire it. That gives Overcharge (77.5%) and Time to Spill Some Ink (80.4%) at once. You can repeat the fight if you fall.
The second part is the festival. You receive a Festival Token to trade at the stalls for unique items; at Colette’s stall is the Old Key, which opens a journal in Old Lumière. Since update 1.5.0 there is a second key in the game’s final area, so it no longer blocks Follow The Trail, but grabbing it here saves the trip.
If you head to the harbour without beating the Mime, A Peculiar Encounter is lost for that playthrough. No other Mime in the game counts.
The camp, Maelle and the Nevrons
After the first Axon, go back to camp and watch the optional campfire scenes: one of them gives a record that does not come back. It pays to always watch these scenes; the first, after Flying Waters, already gives Curious (68.4%). Since the Mime’s record has a duplicate later and the trophy counts records, not distinct records, Connoisseur is only lost if you miss both.
In Act III, the level 6 to 7 conversation with Maelle offers a truth answer and a lie answer. Only the truth raises the relationship: with the lie there is no Maelle trophy (33.7%) and no level 3 Gradient Attack. If you get it wrong, reload.
And throughout the game: the white Nevrons that talk instead of attacking have quests. Do not kill any of them before finishing theirs and talk to them again after handing over what they ask for. The exception is the ninth, which asks you to finish it off: doing so breaks nothing.
What can no longer be missed, and what New Game+ wipes
Two trophies that older guides mark as missable no longer are. Follow The Trail (11.1%): update 1.5.0 added another way to get the key for the Old Lumière journal. Feet Collection (17.0%): an update made the missing enemy respawn, and no Monoco skill can slip away.
What is worth knowing: New Game+ resets journals and records. It is not needed for the platinum, so pick everything up on the first run and use New Game+ only if you want to replay.
