The order that works

The eight optional boss and challenge trophies average 25.7%, and almost all of them open in Act III, when Esquie flies. The order matters because each boss leaves you something for the next: Sprong gives the Pictos that grants two turns in a row, the Serpenphare a catalyst to take a weapon to level 33, and the Endless Tower levels you up along the way. Simon, always last.

OrderTrophyThe trick
1Carreau Parfait (22.2%)Chase it with Esquie to its platform; stun the Pétanks it summons
2Sprong (33.4%)Its fourth stage is a free turn; it gives the two-turn Pictos
3Endless (20.1%), early stagesRest between fights; no need to do it in one go
4À On (26.4%)Spend your AP before it absorbs it; dodge its explosion
5Clea (21.6%)Four bosses before the door; she heals when she hits you
6Noir et Blanc (20.4%)Three entrances, three items to the statue, then the boss
7Endless, final stages33 fights in total; the 1.5.0 bosses do not count
8Peace At Last (15.5%)With level 99 and everything else done

Simon: what he does and how not to lose the party

Simon waits at the end of an optional endgame zone and is the toughest fight in the game. He has two phases. In the first, four combos you have to learn to parry or dodge; if he kills a character who is not revived instantly, he can erase them from the fight, so bring effects that prevent death or revive automatically. He also steals your shields and, when he gathers Chroma around a character, drops their health to 1.

In the second phase every sword combo carries a delayed extra hit: be ready to defend twice. And before he falls, he wipes your main party in one go and forces the reserve in. There are two ways to handle it: finish him before he does it, with the level 3 Gradient Attack saved up, or keep your strongest characters in reserve to finish with them.

Arrive at level 99 with the endgame Pictos; every failed attempt still gives experience.

Key

Peace At Last’s 15.5% sits above the journals (11.1%) and the records (11.5%). Simon is the hardest fight, but not the rarest trophy.

Professional without risk

Professional (46.1%) asks you to beat a boss without taking damage. Chromatic bosses count, Mimes do not. The safe play is not to fight the optional chromatic boss in Spring Meadows at the time, when it is above your level, and come back with the endgame party: it falls before it can act twice.

Other Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 guides

Clair Obscur’s four missables, and two of them are in the prologue
The platinum fits in one playthrough if none of this slips: the prologue Mime, the camp scene after the first Axon, the Truth answer to Maelle and never killing a Nevron with a quest. What can be missed, when, and what is no longer missable after 1.5.0.
Journals, records and Gestrals: the collectibles are rarer than Simon
Clair Obscur’s two rarest trophies are collectibles: 49 journals and 33 records, in a game with no per-zone counter. What each one counts, how many there are, what requires flying with Esquie and the detail that stops the Nevron quests from popping.
All five relationships to level 7: the quest each one needs and the answer not to give
Sciel, Monoco, Maelle, Lune and Esquie at level 7 are five trophies, and they also unlock the level 3 Gradient Attack and Esquie’s diving. When each level opens, which quest the step from 5 to 6 requires and the Maelle answer that ruins it all.
One trophy per character: Overcharge, Stains, Virtuose Stance, Foretell, Rank S and Monoco’s wheel
Each character has their own mechanic and a trophy that tests it. How to set each one up on purpose, which enemy to do it against and why Monoco’s, at 30.1%, is the hardest.
Level 99 and a weapon at 33: the only part of the platinum that is grind
Six progression trophies: the first weapon upgrade, a weapon at level 33, Lumina and levels 33, 66 and 99. Which material is always missing, why level 99 is best left for just before Simon and where levelling is fastest.
All 18 story trophies, act by act, and what to do in each
No story trophy can be missed, but each act opens something the platinum needs: the Curator, relationships, Esquie’s flight. From the prologue’s 84.9% to the ending’s 43.2%, with what to do in each stretch.
