All 18 story trophies, act by act, and what to do in each

No story trophy can be missed, but each act opens something the platinum needs: the Curator, relationships, Esquie’s flight. From the prologue’s 84.9% to the ending’s 43.2%, with what to do in each stretch.

Act by act

The 18 story trophies pop on their own and none can be missed. They run from Lumière’s 84.9% to The End’s 43.2%, and some pop in pairs: Esquie’s Nest and Legend (66.2%), Monoco’s Station and Expedition 33 (58.8%). What matters is what each stretch opens for the rest of the platinum.

StretchTrophiesWhat it opens or what to do
PrologueLumière (84.9%)The Mime and the festival key, before the harbour
Act IFrom Spring Meadows (77.5%) to Stone Wave Cliffs (62.4%)The Curator after Flying Waters; Esquie joins and learns to swim
Act IIFrom Forgotten Battlefield (59.6%) to Back to Lumière (50.1%)Relationships and Gradients; Monoco joins; camp scene after the first Axon
Act IIIThe End (43.2%)Esquie flies; relationship level 7, optional bosses and clean-up

Before or after the ending, it does not matter

The story’s biggest drop is in the final act: from Back to Lumière’s 50.1% to The End’s 43.2%. There is no need to rush, because loading your save after the final boss puts you back at the last flag before it, with the whole map available. You can close the story and clean up afterwards, or the other way round.

The only thing worth doing before the final boss is the relationships at level 7: each character’s level 3 Gradient Attack makes the fight much easier, and it also gives Chroma Proficiency.

Other Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 guides

Clair Obscur’s four missables, and two of them are in the prologue
The platinum fits in one playthrough if none of this slips: the prologue Mime, the camp scene after the first Axon, the Truth answer to Maelle and never killing a Nevron with a quest. What can be missed, when, and what is no longer missable after 1.5.0.
Journals, records and Gestrals: the collectibles are rarer than Simon
Clair Obscur’s two rarest trophies are collectibles: 49 journals and 33 records, in a game with no per-zone counter. What each one counts, how many there are, what requires flying with Esquie and the detail that stops the Nevron quests from popping.
Clair Obscur optional bosses: what order to do them in and how to reach Simon
Sprong, the Chromatic Pétank, the Serpenphare, Clea, the Painting Workshop, the 33 Endless Tower fights and Simon: the order that makes each one easier than the last, the trick to each fight and how to get Professional without risk.
All five relationships to level 7: the quest each one needs and the answer not to give
Sciel, Monoco, Maelle, Lune and Esquie at level 7 are five trophies, and they also unlock the level 3 Gradient Attack and Esquie’s diving. When each level opens, which quest the step from 5 to 6 requires and the Maelle answer that ruins it all.
One trophy per character: Overcharge, Stains, Virtuose Stance, Foretell, Rank S and Monoco’s wheel
Each character has their own mechanic and a trophy that tests it. How to set each one up on purpose, which enemy to do it against and why Monoco’s, at 30.1%, is the hardest.
Level 99 and a weapon at 33: the only part of the platinum that is grind
Six progression trophies: the first weapon upgrade, a weapon at level 33, Lumina and levels 33, 66 and 99. Which material is always missing, why level 99 is best left for just before Simon and where levelling is fastest.
