The optional bosses and the facility secrets

Eight trophies hidden behind sub orders: the Ghost Hunter, the Lord of the Tar Lake, the Pizza Chef, the F3 crater and the captures. Saving Terminal Fort Knot, at 8.7%, requires the other 41 facilities to be connected.

All eight at a glance

None of these eight trophies is required by the story, and all hang on something you cannot see in the list: a sub order, a connection level or an item that arrives mid-game. It is the group with the lowest average in the game, 25.3%, below even the connection group.

Order matters for one reason: three belong to the Ghost Hunter, and his last order does not open until every other facility is connected.

The Ghost Hunter, start to finish

To open him up, accept Sub Order No. 109 from the Chronobiologist and then No. 110 from the Ghost Hunter himself. That second one is the headless riders: at night, on a Tri-Cruiser, to the spot with the red-lit Auto-Paver east of the facility. It takes you onto a floating road where you have to finish off the Ghost Mech bikes and the boss bike.

To level him, each level from 2 to 5 asks for an order: Nos. 111, 112 and 113, and finally No. 114, which he will not offer until the other 41 facilities are connected. That is the Terminal Fort Knot one: a giant BT in the tar next to the city. Bring rocket launchers, machine guns and EX Capture Grenades, and a friendly BT summoned. It is the biggest drop on the curve: from 15.8% to 8.7%.

The third trophy is separate and only after the ending: switch on the Drawbridge Q-pid in the System menu, which reduces BTs, and try to make a delivery to the Ghost Hunter. It pops instantly. Switch it off afterwards: while it is on you cannot keep raising his connection.

Careful

If the Ghost Hunter is stuck at the level 4 cap and the message for the last order never arrives, it is not a bug: you are missing a facility connection.

The Tar Lake boss

It belongs to The Fisherman, an optional facility connected through Sub Order No. 116 from the F5 East Distribution Center. Raise him until he stalls around 80% of level 5 and Sub Order No. 117 arrives, with two steps in order.

First, at the Ghost Mech factory in the desert to the north-east, a dolphin-shaped BT appears: bring its health to red and capture it with an EX Capture Grenade. If you kill it or die, abandon the order and accept it again; it can be re-accepted straight away. Then go to the centre of the marked spot on the lake and use that BT to bring out the boss, a flying whale that dives and fires homing projectiles.

Fill your backpack with rocket launchers and machine guns before you go and always keep a friendly BT summoned: it draws the projectiles. After the win, Showdown at the Tar Lake (16.1%) pops straight away; go back to the Fisherman to close out his level 5.

The Pizza Chef and the F3 crater

The Pizza Chef is connected through the story, but his level stalls around 80% of level 2. After Main Order No. 29, a Pizza Chef misanga appears as lost cargo in the nearby MULE camps. Deliver it: the door behind the terminal opens, you have to take out some Ghost Mechs and use the door at the back. The trophy (38.8%) pops when you return to the terminal after the scene.

The F3 crater, at the far north of the map, can be reached early by crossing the tar on the Mechanic's floating vehicle to the cliffs around it. Otherwise, the Adventurer's Sub Order No. 121, needed for his level 5, takes you there anyway. 16.7% have it.

Capture grenades and the golden creature

EX Capture Grenades arrive when you finish Main Order No. 33, in Episode 8. That same order has large BTs along the way: weaken one to red and throw the grenade into its mouth. That gives BT's Best Friend (35.1%) and a crystal that lets you summon it; you will need it against the two bosses above.

The golden chiral creature is the golden version of the black blobs that scurry around tar areas full of crystals. Shoot it from a distance. Two early spots: the pools east of the entrance to the mine north of F1 and the ones south-east of the Animal Shelter. 26.3% have it.
