Why the Silksong platinum forces two playthroughs
The three Grand Mother Silk endings lock each other out. Here is what that means in practice and how to plan your runs.
And it counts towards Snared Silk, Twisted Child, Sister of the Void, required for the platinum.
One boss, three endings, three trophies
The fight against Grand Mother Silk has three possible endings, and each one gives a different trophy:
Weaver Queen if you bind her power, Snared Silk if you trap her with the Soul Snare, and Twisted Child if you beat her while cursed.
The problem is that they are mutually exclusive: in a single playthrough you can only get one. That is why the Silksong platinum cannot be done in one sitting, no matter how well you play.
This is what sets Silksong apart from every other platinum we have analysed. It is not that it is long: it is that it is designed to make you replay it.
The numbers make it obvious
Look at the drop across the three endings. The first two are almost tied, because they are the ones people pick on their first run, and the third one collapses.
| Trophy | Condition | Who has it |
|---|---|---|
| Weaver Queen | Bind her power | 49.00% |
| Snared Silk | Trap her with the Soul Snare | 46.99% |
| Twisted Child | Beat her while cursed | 20.97% |
| Sister of the Void | Defeat Lost Lace (act 3) | 36.02% |
How to split up your playthroughs
The most efficient way to organise it, and the one we recommend at EveryTrophy:
First playthrough: full exploration, every collectible, 100% completion and whichever Grand Mother Silk ending you prefer. Around 28 of the 34 trophies land here.
Second playthrough: go straight for the two endings you are missing. It is much shorter because you already know the way.
Third playthrough: the 5-hour speedrun, with the route learned.
One note on Twisted Child: it is the hardest of the three because the curse changes the rules of the fight. Save it for when you already know the boss patterns cold.
And the real ending is further out still
Sister of the Void is not a Grand Mother Silk variant: it is the third act ending, earned by defeating Lost Lace. 36.02% have it.
That number says a lot about Silksong: almost two out of every three players never reach the real ending. For comparison, 66% do in Ghost of Yotei and 50% in Dying Light: The Beast.
