Dying Light: The Beast's 100 collectibles and the ability that finds them through walls
They do not show on the map, but Survivor Sense marks them with an orange icon even through a wall. Here is the exact split across 12 categories and how to tell which one you are missing.
And it counts towards Good Samaritan, Craftsman, required for the platinum.
First things first: Survivor Sense sees through walls
There are 100 collectibles in Dying Light: The Beast, across 12 categories, and Cabinet of Curiosities wants all of them.
The thing to know before anything else: they do not appear on the map. None of them. Not marked, not by unfogging the area, not by buying anything. Which is why plenty of people hunt by eye, walking into every building.
No need. Survivor Sense — R3, the right stick — marks them with an orange treasure-chest icon the moment you are close, and it works through walls. It does not matter if the item is inside a closed room on the far side of a partition: if you are in range, you see it. Hitting it every time you enter a building or a new area turns the search into something mechanical.
Two more reliefs:
Nothing is missable. There is free roam after the story and you can pick everything up then.
They save instantly. Pick one up and die five seconds later and it still counts. No need to go back for it.
They are logged in the Collections tab of your journal, and every collectible has its own name. Which means you do not have to guess: the journal tells you exactly which one is missing, by name, in which category.
The 12 categories and how many of each
The murals alone are nearly a third of the total. The small categories — the Fischer documents, the Paulaner diaries — close almost without noticing; the real weight is in the murals, the beavers and the recipes.
| Category | How many |
|---|---|
| Murals | 27 |
| Castor Woods beavers | 11 |
| Castor Woods recipes | 9 |
| Baron's research recordings | 9 |
| Castor Woods newspapers | 8 |
| Sigils | 8 |
| Hidden Truths with Spark | 8 |
| Asylum patient records | 6 |
| Dr. Tal Cuberno recordings | 5 |
| Olivia's recordings | 4 |
| Dr. Peter Paulaner diaries | 3 |
| Fischer family documents | 2 |
27 + 11 + 9 + 9 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 = 100. Compare category by category against your journal: the one that does not add up tells you what kind of place to sweep again.
And what does not count as a collectible but does count for 100%
Beyond the 100, two more blocks get confused with them because they are also "find things around the map", but they run separately and have their own trophy:
The 20 side quests → Good Samaritan. These are quests, not objects: they show up marked and you accept them by talking to people. Survivor Sense is no help here.
The 49 blueprints → Craftsman, which on top of that does not ask you to find them, it asks you to max them all out. That distinction matters: collecting all 49 does not give the trophy. You have to upgrade them, and that costs materials, so it pays to upgrade as you go rather than leaving it to the end with forty-nine blueprints at zero.
All three blocks — collectibles, side quests and blueprints — happen on the same sweep. If you are going to comb the map, do it once with all three lists in front of you.
