Which Dying Light: The Beast trophies count towards the platinum and which do not
The game has 43 trophies but the platinum closes with 30. Which 12 are counted separately and why that difference changes your planning completely.
43 trophies, 30 for the platinum
Dying Light: The Beast launched with 31 trophies, platinum included. Techland then kept adding blocks in free updates until it reached the 43 there are today.
None of those 12 additions count towards the platinum. The Beast Unleashed unlocks with the original 30 trophies, and that is what explains how a game with 1% trophies has a platinum that 15.98% of players get.
If you are going for the platinum it is 25-35 hours. If you are going for real 100%, Restored Land Mode triples the work.
The four blocks
This is how the game splits up, with the lowest percentage in each block.
| Block | Trophies | Counts towards the platinum? | The rarest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base game | 30 + platinum | Yes | Craftsman · 16.77% |
| New Game+ and Legend levels | 3 | No | Second Ascent · 5.86% |
| Nightmare | 2 | No | The Nightmare is over · 3.58% |
| Restored Land | 7 | No | Unbeatable · 1.10% |
How the ranks break down
Dying Light: The Beast splits its 43 trophies into 1 platinum, 7 gold, 11 silver and 24 bronze: 1,500 points on the PlayStation scale.
The seven golds mark the road to the platinum. Six of them come from the base game: finish the story, complete every side quest, fully regain your survival skills, fully unlock your inner beast, upgrade every blueprint to its maximum and find every collectible. With those six done, the platinum is one step away.
The seventh, Unbeatable, comes from the Restored Land update and does not count towards the platinum: it asks you to complete the story in that mode with the One Life option turned on.
