New Game+, Nightmare and Restored Land: the nine that do not count towards the platinum

Hoarder sits at 1.17% and the entire Restored Land block is below 4%. Nine trophies that arrived in later updates, and why their percentages do not measure difficulty.

Why these percentages do not measure difficulty

The nine trophies in this block hold the game's lowest percentages, and none counts towards the platinum. Before looking at them, it is worth knowing why they read that way.

Almost all of them arrived in post-launch updates. New Game+, the iconic weapons, the Volatile alpha, Nightmare difficulty and Restored Land mode did not exist on day one. That means their denominator includes everyone who played the game before they existed and never came back.

Second Ascent — 5.86%. Complete the game in New Game+. It is the base game's rarest trophy, and that 5.86% does not measure difficulty: it measures how many people returned months later. If you take it on, it is the full lap of the seven missions with the gear you already have.

Beast's Dowry — 23.36%. Obtain an iconic weapon. Iconic weapons are unique named pieces, added in the same update as New Game+. Any one of them will do: you do not have to keep them all or use them. If you have come back for Second Ascent, this falls along the way.

I'm the Alpha Now — 6.59%. Kill the Volatile alpha, the upgraded version of the Volatiles. It is the game's second-rarest trophy, barely above New Game+.

Birth of a Legend — 22.99%. Use your first legend point.

Nightmare's Over — 3.58%. Complete the story on Nightmare difficulty. It arrived in a later update and does not count towards the platinum.

Restored Land: the entire block below 4%

Restored Land is a separate mode added in an update, and its four trophies are the rarest in the whole game:

- Better Safe — 3.66%. Complete every safe zone and shelter in Restored Land. - Coming Through — 2.26%. Complete the quest Vengeance Is Mine in Restored Land. - Fearless Samaritan — 1.27%. Complete every side quest in Restored Land. - Hoarder — 1.17%. Complete every dark zone and convoy in Restored Land.

None counts towards the platinum. The whole block sits below 4%, and the lowest of the four is held by barely one player in a hundred.

What is interesting is how they order among themselves. Better Safe (3.66%) is the highest, and it asks for safe zones and shelters: the first thing anyone does on entering a new mode, because it is what the game puts in front of you.

Coming Through (2.26%) is one specific quest. And then the two that ask you to sweep the entire mode — every side quest and every convoy — collapse to 1.27% and 1.17%.

That pattern is the same one seen in every optional block in this game: the entrance has two or three times more people than the completion. Whoever enters Restored Land does the safe zones; almost nobody does the side quests.

The practical recommendation is simple: if you are going for the platinum, this block is entirely ignorable. If you are going for 100%, start with Better Safe, the one most people have and therefore the one the mode puts closest to hand.
