Insanity difficulty in Resident Evil Requiem: the platinum's only wall
Remarkable Agent sits at 41.90% and the platinum at 39.63%. Clear Insanity and you platinum. This is how to prepare for it.
And it counts towards Resolute Agent, Untouchable, The Ol' Fashioned Way, required for the platinum.
The trophy that defines the platinum
Look at these two numbers side by side: Remarkable Agent (Insanity difficulty) is at 41.90%. The platinum, at 39.63%.
Two points apart. In practice that means Insanity is the last thing left for almost everybody, and that the rest of the list — the collectibles, the run-wide challenges — is not slowing anyone down.
It is the exact opposite of what happens in most games we analyse, where the platinum gets stuck on a collectible.
| Milestone | Who has it |
|---|---|
| Finish the story (Hope and Requiem) | 86.60% |
| Clear it on Standard (Modern) | 80.37% |
| Clear it on Standard (Classic) | 52.22% |
| Clear it on Insanity | 41.90% |
| Platinum | 39.63% |
How it unlocks
Insanity is not available from the start: you have to finish the story once.
And it is worth knowing that the difficulty trophies stack: you do not need to clear the game on Casual, then Standard (Modern), then Classic, then Insanity. A single Insanity run pops all four.
What changes and what to practise first
Insanity hardens enemy damage and squeezes your resources. Two things make the difference:
The parry. It is the mechanic behind the Untouchable trophy and on lower difficulties you can ignore it; on Insanity you cannot. Practise it from the first run until it is automatic.
Ammo management. It pays to arrive at Insanity with your weapons upgraded and the crafting recipes unlocked from the previous run.
If you are also going for Never Touch the Stuff on the same run, the parry stops being an option and becomes the only way to survive.
