Weapons are not bought, they are learned: the master tales are the catalogue

Take Aim and Quick Draw share almost the same percentage because they are the same content: every weapon comes from a master tale and there is no other route. Thirteen gear and combat trophies.

The weapons are not in the shops

Three trophies ask you to "acquire all the weapons" in a category, and there is something to understand before hunting for them at a merchant: they are not bought, they are learned.

Take Aim — 65.67%. Acquire the 4 ranged weapons. Each comes from one specific master tale, so this trophy is really a summary of having done that part of the side content. If you are missing one, look at which master tale you have not done: there is no other way to get them.

Quick Draw — 65.58%. Acquire the 5 fast-attack weapons. Same system: five weapons, five tales.

The two percentages are practically identical, and that is no coincidence: whoever does the master tales does them all, and whoever does not gets neither trophy.

A Warrior's Tools — 72.96%. Acquire all the melee weapons. They also come from the sensei tales, so this trophy closes itself if you do them all.

For Any Occasion — 53.30%. Acquire all the armour. At that percentage it is one of the game's most expensive completionist trophies, and the reason is that armour does not come from a single source: it is spread across tales, rewards and merchants.

The practical conclusion of the whole block: master tales are not optional content in this platinum. They are the weapon catalogue, and four trophies depend on them.

Key

Ranged and fast-attack weapons are only obtained by completing master tales. If one is missing, do not look in the shops: look for the tale you have not done.

Charms are not upgraded by paying

Lucky One — 68.95%. Upgrade 10 charms at least once.

There is a double trap here worth knowing before you go looking for a blacksmith:

- Not every charm can be upgraded, only those that show levels in their description. The rest are fixed no matter how hard you try. - And the ones that can are not upgraded at a blacksmith or a shop: they are upgraded by completing the challenges each description states.

So the trophy is not a question of money or materials: it is reading the descriptions and completing ten different challenges.

Like Mother, Like Daughter — 68.70%. Fully upgrade the wolf blade, the starting katana. It is upgraded at your home forge and has 4 levels.

It's Just Decorative — 81.56%. Obtain 30 cosmetics: weapon sets and armour dyes. They come from rewards, from the Pillars of the Fallen and from merchants, so they fall on their own.

Sake Set — 76.77%. Collect 10 full sake bottles. They sit in the Yōtei Six camps and in any area with enemies. And the nuance that explains the high percentage: you can only restock once you have spent, so it comes on its own unless you never heal.

Very Convincing — 81.98%. Interrogate 10 enemies. It comes practically by itself: the last enemy in many groups is interrogated automatically.

The four combat ones: three come free and one nearly does

Two in One — 89.81%. Complete a standoff or an assassination with a companion. The first chance comes in the main mission A Maddened Chase, so it pops practically on its own.

Forest Fire — 77.96%. Kill an enemy by setting the grass alight. And here is a useful coincidence: during the sensei tale The Bombmaker, it is very likely to pop without trying, while throwing bombs. If you do the master tales — which you will anyway, for the weapons — this one falls along the way.

The Horror — 70.65%. Make 20 enemies collapse in fear with the Onryō's Howl.

The howl only unlocks during the main mission The Old Inn, so do not look for it earlier. You use it with L3 + R3 when the four bars in the bottom right are full.

Spearfishing — 55.98%. Spear 5 fish with the yari.

It is the lowest of the four and yet the least work if you know this: you need the yari, obtained in the sensei tale The Way of the Yari, and during that same tale you already catch 4.

Which means you are only one short. The people who lose this trophy are those who finished the tale and put the yari away without returning to a river.

This block's pattern is the weapons' pattern: almost everything runs through the sensei tales. The howl comes from the main story, but the yari, the bombs and the weapons come from side content — which is why this game's percentages cluster so tightly: whoever does the tales gets nearly everything; whoever does not is missing half the list.

Other Ghost of Yōtei guides

Altars of Reflection: the skills that lock three Ghost of Yōtei trophies
Three combat trophies are impossible until you unlock specific skills at the altars. Here is the list and the order.
The three collectibles that stall the Ghost of Yōtei platinum
Sumi-e, puzzle boxes and special places. All three sit around 44%, barely above the platinum: they are the last ones to fall.
New Game+ and Legends: the 8 Ghost of Yōtei trophies that do not count
Eight of the 62 trophies are DLC and fall outside the platinum. Among them, the two rarest in the game.
The 12 Nine Tails' puzzle boxes: where they are and how to open them
All twelve are in Teshio Ridge. Here are the twelve locations, the four fox-statue puzzles that open the hidden camps, and the move-by-move solution to every box.
The 5 mountain reliquaries: riddle, solution and the exact spins
One per region. Spinning one fox spins another, and the Teshio Ridge one cannot even be started without fire arrows. Here is each riddle with its solution and the shortest spin sequence.
The 11 fox dens, and why the trophy does not pop when you finish them
Eleven dens, eleven charms, and a final step almost nobody sees coming: the mask does not come from the dens, but from a woman at Sanctuary Grove behind a statue puzzle.
The 8 shamisen songs: the collectible to do first
Each song is a collectible detector. Getting them before anything else turns the game's three hundred-odd pieces into following an arrow. Here are all eight, including the one that comes down to chance.
The 8 zeni hajiki tables and why your counter falls short
Eight tables, eight charms. If your counter reads 6 of 8 and you swear you played them all, you are not missing a table: you are missing second wins.
Two of the tales ask for two masters, not one: that is why they get lost
The Way of the Ōdachi starts on its own during another tale, and anyone who does not know a second master is missing ends up halfway. Ten sensei and side tales, plus the minigame almost nobody finds.
From 99.90% to 66.45%: the story takes a third of all players with it
The campaign's nine trophies are all progression except one, which is a choice you can get wrong. The order of the hunt, which side content to fold into each region, and where people drop off.
Four Legends trophies that do not count towards the platinum, and the map work that does
For the Living is the game's longest map job and one of only two silvers outside the sensei tales. The four Legends trophies, by contrast, can be left alone without touching the platinum.
