The 11 fox dens, and why the trophy does not pop when you finish them

Eleven dens, eleven charms, and a final step almost nobody sees coming: the mask does not come from the dens, but from a woman at Sanctuary Grove behind a statue puzzle.

How a den works

There are eleven fox dens on the map, and each one leads to an Inari shrine.

A den always looks the same: a mound of earth with a red tree on top. As you approach it marks itself on the map and a fox appears and bolts. Follow it to the shrine and pray there by swiping down on the touchpad. That completes the den, and you walk away with a charm.

Nothing is missable: all eleven are still there after the story. And since each one gives a different charm, it is one of the collectible sets most worth doing early.

All eleven, by region

They are spread across the six regions. The per-region count tells you where you still have to look without sweeping the whole map.

Den and charm names are given as they appear in English; in another language they change. What does not change is the split: 3 in Yotei Grasslands, 2 in Ishikari Plain, 2 in Tokachi Range, 1 in Nayoro Wilds, 2 in Teshio Ridge and 1 in Oshima Coast.

The missing step: Sanctuary Grove

This is where everyone gets stuck. Completing all eleven dens does not give you the trophy. The trophy asks you to *receive the fox mask*, and the mask does not come from the dens: it comes from a person, in a specific place, that you have to go to on purpose.

That place is Sanctuary Grove, the hunting camp hideout in the north-east of Teshio Ridge. You get in by going through the Sarufutsu Lighthouse.

There you find a locked door and four fox statues. The solution: spin the two on the left so they face each other, and do the same with the two on the right. You can then pick up the small statuettes and place them on the pedestal at the door.

Go through the door and follow the path behind it to the end of the area. There you have to follow a little bear; after that, a woman opens the door and talks to you. She hands over the fox mask, and the trophy pops the moment you receive it.

If you had already been to this area, there is nothing to redo: fast travel there and talk to the woman in the house.

Key

If your counter reads 11 of 11 and the trophy still will not pop, it is not bugged and you are not missing a den: you are missing the trip to Sanctuary Grove. It is literally the most repeated complaint about this trophy.

Other Ghost of Yōtei guides

Altars of Reflection: the skills that lock three Ghost of Yōtei trophies
Three combat trophies are impossible until you unlock specific skills at the altars. Here is the list and the order.
The three collectibles that stall the Ghost of Yōtei platinum
Sumi-e, puzzle boxes and special places. All three sit around 44%, barely above the platinum: they are the last ones to fall.
New Game+ and Legends: the 8 Ghost of Yōtei trophies that do not count
Eight of the 62 trophies are DLC and fall outside the platinum. Among them, the two rarest in the game.
The 12 Nine Tails' puzzle boxes: where they are and how to open them
All twelve are in Teshio Ridge. Here are the twelve locations, the four fox-statue puzzles that open the hidden camps, and the move-by-move solution to every box.
The 5 mountain reliquaries: riddle, solution and the exact spins
One per region. Spinning one fox spins another, and the Teshio Ridge one cannot even be started without fire arrows. Here is each riddle with its solution and the shortest spin sequence.
The 8 shamisen songs: the collectible to do first
Each song is a collectible detector. Getting them before anything else turns the game's three hundred-odd pieces into following an arrow. Here are all eight, including the one that comes down to chance.
The 8 zeni hajiki tables and why your counter falls short
Eight tables, eight charms. If your counter reads 6 of 8 and you swear you played them all, you are not missing a table: you are missing second wins.
Weapons are not bought, they are learned: the master tales are the catalogue
Take Aim and Quick Draw share almost the same percentage because they are the same content: every weapon comes from a master tale and there is no other route. Thirteen gear and combat trophies.
Two of the tales ask for two masters, not one: that is why they get lost
The Way of the Ōdachi starts on its own during another tale, and anyone who does not know a second master is missing ends up halfway. Ten sensei and side tales, plus the minigame almost nobody finds.
From 99.90% to 66.45%: the story takes a third of all players with it
The campaign's nine trophies are all progression except one, which is a choice you can get wrong. The order of the hunt, which side content to fold into each region, and where people drop off.
Four Legends trophies that do not count towards the platinum, and the map work that does
For the Living is the game's longest map job and one of only two silvers outside the sensei tales. The four Legends trophies, by contrast, can be left alone without touching the platinum.
