Brushes With Death: ten trophies and two incompatible endings
Curiosity Killed the Cat and resolving Libor's thread properly are mutually exclusive: one of the two is left out every run. Ten DLC trophies, none counts towards the platinum and eight are missable.
And it counts towards Confessor, Nothing But the Best, Rest in One Piece, All Fun and Games, Curiosity Killed the Cat, Painted, Poet's Gut, Vengeance Solves Nothing, Bohemian Graffitti, required for the platinum.
First: they do not count towards the platinum
The ten trophies in Brushes With Death are downloadable content and none counts towards the platinum. If the cup is all you want, you can skip this block entirely.
And it is worth knowing how to read the percentages before panicking. Painted sits at 7.03%, but that does not measure difficulty: it measures how many people bought the DLC. Downloadable-content trophies always come out low because the denominator includes every owner of the base game.
That said, eight of the ten are missable, and in a story DLC that means one thing: play it carefully or replay it.
Masterpiece — 9.68%. Finish the DLC. It is this block's ceiling: nobody can hold another DLC trophy without having reached here or nearly.
Painted — 7.03%. Get your shield painted. The official description — "but payment pending" — is a joke: Voyta paints it for free, as thanks after you help him with his first quest, in his workshop at Trosky Castle. Nothing to steal and no payment to dodge: do his quest and accept the gift.
Two trophies that do not fit in the same run
Curiosity Killed the Cat — 4.21%. Poke where you should not and bring about Libor's end.
Here is this DLC's most important warning: it is that thread's "bad" ending, so it is incompatible with resolving it well. One of the two is left out every run.
There is no way to have both in a single pass. If you are going for 100% of the DLC, plan two runs or accept that one of the two paths stays open.
And the same pattern, more gently, repeats in two others:
Empty Revenge — 4.54%. Spare Burkhard's life. It is among the DLC's rarest for the usual reason: the natural reaction is to kill him. The game has given you cause, and the trophy still asks you to hold back.
Pure Fun — 4.50%. Make Stihlau understand that some things are not to be joked about. Missable and hidden.
All three share the same nature: they are not failed by playing badly, they are failed by reacting the way anyone would. It is exactly the pattern of the base game's side quests, and the same solution: check before deciding, not after.
Curiosity Killed the Cat requires the bad ending of Libor's thread, which excludes the good one. The two do not fit in one run: decide which you want before starting the DLC.
The rest, and the one that costs the most work
Bohemian Graffiti — 4.18%. Paint shields of every available type in the painting minigame.
It is the DLC's heaviest work: no decision, no ending — you have to find every design and paint them one by one. It is the only one of the ten that does not hinge on a conversation.
Confession — 9.56%. Get the painter to tell you everything. Silver and missable: it depends on how you handle your conversations with him, so it is not one moment but an accumulation of right answers.
The Best of the Best — 5.79%. Give the painter the highest-quality medicine, not the first one you find. Missable: hand him a worse one and it is over. It is a silent failure, the kind you only notice much later.
All in One Piece — 5.80%. Take the skull to its final resting place. Silver and missable.
Poet's Guts — 10.40%. Complete the poet's thread. It is the DLC's second most common after Masterpiece, so it sits fairly close to the main route.
The advice that works for all ten: this DLC rewards patience in conversation and punishes haste in deliveries. If you are torn between two dialogue options, the one that sounds like extra effort is usually the trophy's.
