How the endings work

Silent Hill f has 5 endings, and four of them give a trophy: three silvers and the only gold in the game. The first pops on its own when you finish your first playthrough; the other four have to be triggered.

The conditions revolve around three decisions: whether you use red capsules, what you do with the Sacred Sword and whether you offer the Brooch to the Jizo Statue. And since they lock each other out, you cannot get them all in the same run.

Ordered by when it is best to get them.

Ending 1— (automatic)Pops on its own when you finish the first playthrough.1
Ending 2Fox's Wedding · silverNo red capsules. Get or ignore the Sacred Sword and pick up the Agura no Hotei-sama.NG+
Ending 3The Fox Wets Its Tail · silverNo red capsules. Get the Sacred Sword but do NOT purify it.NG+

Careful

Ending 5 does not validate the difficulty trophies. Get it on a separate partial run or you will waste a whole playthrough on maximum difficulty.

The number that shows where people quit

Look at the percentages: 65.13% of players finish the story once, but the four endings you have to trigger all fall at once into the 26 to 29% band.

That jump from 65 to 29 is the exact moment people decide whether they are going to replay Silent Hill f three times or leave it there. It is not a question of difficulty: it is patience.

And it is also the best news for anyone who does carry on, because 20.99% have the platinum: of the people who get into the second ending, almost all of them end up platinuming it.

Intellectual Pursuits asks for Story exactly: set it on the first run or it costs you a playthrough
Two independent difficulties, action and puzzles, and only one of the four accepts "or higher". The easy-puzzle trophy is held by fewer people than the hard one, and that fact explains how to plan the runs.
