The Silent Hill f playthrough route: what order to do everything in

Three full playthroughs and a partial one, with the difficulty and the ending that belongs to each. The decision that separates a 30-hour platinum from a 45-hour one.

And it counts towards Clear Skies, Puzzle Master, Ebisugaoka in Silence, required for the platinum.

Why the order decides this platinum

Silent Hill f does not punish playing badly, it punishes playing without a plan. 36 of its 57 trophies are missable, there are 5 endings with conditions that lock each other out and two independent difficulty scales —action and puzzles— with trophies tied to the top level of both.

Combine that badly and it is four or five playthroughs. Combine it well and it is three full ones plus a partial, and that is the difference between 30 and 45 hours.

The route, playthrough by playthrough

This is the combination with the least repetition. Each row is a playthrough.

Key

The trick is in the third one: raising action and puzzles to maximum at the same time gets you both hard trophies in a single run instead of two. It is the decision that saves the most hours in the whole game.

The rule you have to respect from minute one

Do not use red capsules. Ever. In any playthrough that counts.

Three of the five endings require never having touched a single one in the whole run, and the game never warns you. It is the most common mistake in Silent Hill f: you get cornered in a boss fight, reach for a capsule, and that playthrough stops counting for endings 2, 3 and 4.

The EveryTrophy team puts this ahead of any other advice: if you are only going to remember one thing from this guide, make it this one.

The mistake that costs ten hours

Ending 5 is the UFO one, the joke ending of the series. And it has a trap that wrecks plans: it does not validate the difficulty trophies.

If you get it during your Lost in the Fog run thinking you are killing two birds with one stone, you lose Clear Skies and Puzzle Master, and you have to repeat a whole playthrough on the highest difficulty in the game.

Get it on a separate partial run, nothing more.

Intellectual Pursuits asks for Story exactly: set it on the first run or it costs you a playthrough
Two independent difficulties, action and puzzles, and only one of the four accepts "or higher". The easy-puzzle trophy is held by fewer people than the hard one, and that fact explains how to plan the runs.
The same chase, twenty points apart: why Sugisato costs twice what Ebisugawa does
Eight feats of combat, escape and exploration, with the exact point where each condition begins. Two are the same mechanic in two areas, and one is its reverse: here you do not flee, you chase.

Two puzzles that allow no trial and error, the item chain that decides three of the five endings, and the eleven areas to sweep for the rarest exploration trophy.
