How to sweep the Crimson Desert map without covering the same ground twice
The order you cross Pywel in decides whether the platinum costs you 200 hours or 300. The three phases of the initial sweep, which subcategories you can close from minute one and which have to wait until after the campaign.
And it counts towards Pywel Legend, required for the platinum.

Why order matters so much in this game
Crimson Desert has a mechanic that punishes playing at random: a challenge only starts making progress once you have found the Sealed Abyss Artifact that unlocks it, and it does not count retroactively.
Translated: you can spend forty hours killing enemies with the spear and still have the spear challenge at zero. That is why the difference between a 200-hour platinum and a 300-hour one is not how well you play, it is the order you do things in.
Key
You do not push the story for the first 25 hours. It sounds like a waste of time and it is exactly the opposite: it is the investment that makes the rest of the playthrough count.
Phase 1 · Lift the fog (around 5 hours)
Before you can look for anything, you have to be able to see. Ring the 8 Hidden Bells, which clear the fog from the map region by region. The only one you cannot do yet is the Pailune Bell, because it is tied to story progress.
Along the way you will be opening fast travel points in each region. Do not ignore them: the Crimson Desert map is enormous and without them every errand turns into a ten-minute trip.
With the fog lifted, everything that comes next goes from a blind hunt to an orderly sweep.
Phase 2 · Prepare your gear and your economy
Upgrade your gear to refinement level 5 or 6 at the blacksmith. It makes a real difference to the overall difficulty and makes the rest of the sweep far faster.
To pay for it, the north of the desert region has scolecite and azurite. A couple of mining sessions gets you around 100 silver coins and you can forget about money for most of the playthrough.
And buy the logging axe and the pickaxe at the provisioner's shop in Hernand, right across from the blacksmith. You will need them for the Life challenges, which are the ones that wreck the most platinums.
Phase 3 · The 141 artifacts, the part that unlocks everything
Now for the real work: cross the map collecting the 141 Sealed Abyss Artifacts. They show up as purple icons on the minimap when you are close, and the sword's Guiding Light ability picks them out from a distance.
While you collect them you will run into white question mark icons. Check every one: they can be an exploration challenge or a fast travel point, and you want both.
This phase is the long one, over 20 hours, but it is the one that turns four of the game's five missable challenges into non-missable ones, and the one that makes everything you do afterwards actually register.
What you can close now and what has to wait
Not every exploration subcategory is available from the start. This table sums up what to do when, with the real percentage of players who have each trophy so you can see where the difficulty actually is.

The one everybody skips
Look at the Legendary Animals row: 22 trials and no trophy of its own. It is the only one of the nine subcategories without one, so it appears on no trophy list and nothing reminds you it exists.
Its 22 challenges only count towards Expert Explorer. It is, by a wide margin, the most common reason someone has everything else done and the gold still will not pop.
It is the finding that surprised us most while putting this guide together at EveryTrophy, and we have not seen it documented in any other guide.
Careful
Before you call exploration done, open the Challenges menu and check all nine subcategories one by one. The one you are missing is almost certainly that one.
You've claimed every trophy. Your name will echo through Pywel's history as the legendary explorer for venturing every path and conquering every challenge.
